The Practitioner’s Postscript is an ongoing companion to Traders of Our Time.
Importantly: it assumes you have already read the relevant chapter before engaging with the Postscript.
Its purpose is simple: to translate principles into practice. These materials extend the ideas set out in the book, offering exercises and prompts drawn from the methods, habits, and mental models of the traders featured.
This is not a curriculum, nor a checklist. It is a working resource. Each exercise is designed to provoke thought, encourage observation, and support the gradual development of sound judgement.
They are assembled so that the practitioner may arrive at timely and relevant insights on their own, rather than through rote learning. This is the surest way to build a solid foundation.
If in doubt: always adapt the spirit of each exercise. What is the prompt asking you to understand or apply? Asking why is a valuable exercise in itself.
You will encounter contradictions — this is inevitable. Each postscript draws from the approach of a different trader in the book; they operate differently, with distinct worldviews. Your task is to think and act at a higher level: extract and apply the underlying principle to your own circumstances.
These exercises are intended to meet you at the right time and place in your development. If something does not yet resonate or prove useful, revisit it periodically — you may find it speaks to you later, as your practice matures.
The material is optimised for futures traders but remains valuable to any serious market practitioner.
It is by no means exhaustive. This resource will continue to evolve.
